‘Snack-tember’ at Croft

During September, we took part in the national event ‘Snack-tember’, organised by the British Nutrition Foundation. The intention was to help children and young people explore their current snacking choices, and learn about, make and try new snack options! We hoped to help children and young people choose and make snacks that have:

  • MOREvegetables and fruit
  • MOREwholegrains, beans and pulses
  • LESSsaturated fat, salt and sugars

On Tasty Tuesdays, during September, the school council team distributed a variety of healthy snacks at breaktime for the children to try. We tasted cauliflower florets, celery with low fat hummus and wholegrain crackers with low fat soft cheese. It was great to see so many children trying a snack that they wouldn’t usually and even better to hear them say that they would try them again!
